The District Court sentenced 18 years imprisonment to 39-year-old Kuma Darji of Khandbari Municipality-2 for the crime of rape of a 9-year-old girl.
Registrar Kedarprasad Gautam informed that the bench of honorable Judge Teknath Gautam on December 20 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 18 years imprisonment. Additionally, the court ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs. 700,000, contribute Rs. 28,000 to the relief fund, and provide compensation of Rs. 5,000.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on June 4, 2022 alleging that the accused raped the victim on June 3, 2022.
The police arrested the accused on June 6 from Khandbari and a case under the crime of rape was registered in the district court on June 14. According to the order of the District Court Judge Teknath Gautam dated on June 16, 2022, the accused was held in custody pending trial.
The health examination of the victim was done at the District Hospital on June 7.
