An increase in the cases of viral fever has led to a scarcity of space in the District Hospital of Sankhuwasabha.
As the number of patients has increased over the past week, the bed of the patients has been kept in the hallway of the hospital.
The hospital is full of patients with viral fever and there are not enough beds for them.
According to the hospital administration, the patient had to be treated in the hallways and corridors of the hospital due to lack of beds.
Shekhar Khatri, Information Officer of the district hospital, said that most of the patients coming to the district hospital have viral fever and seasonal flu.
According to Information Officer Khatri, since May 2022, 54 people have suffered from dengue, 47 people have been found to have scrub typhus and 106 people have been found to have a viral fever.
Information officer Khatri said that during the period from August 17 to August 25, 1,764 people were examined and confirmed to have a viral fever.
The hospital is treating people with viral fever on a daily basis.
According to Khatri, there is a shortage of beds for the patients due to the fact that the patients with cough are given medicine and sent home, but the patients with viral fever have to be admitted and treated in the same bed.
Even the private hospitals of the district are filled with similar cases. Due to viral fever, the same number of patients have been found in private hospitals like Manakamana Polyclinic Hospital, Tumlingtar and Gopalbhagat Memorial Hospital.
Some patients are compelled to enrol in private clinics after not getting beds in government hospitals. District Hospital Khandbari has informed that the outbreak of viral fever has increased in the district this year.
Doctors have stated that viral fever causes problems like headache, fever, vomiting and nausea.
