Police have arrested Narendra Thapa, 40 of Maddu in Tripura Sundari Municipality-1 on the charge of beating Kamala Thapa, 35. He was arrested on December 31, 2021.
Sub Inspector Rudra Bahadur Shahi told INSEC that Kamala had been living with her parents after her husband started beating her repeatedly after consuming alcohol during her pregnancy. On December 30, 2021, Narendra had visited and beat her until she was unconscious and had also threatened to kill her after which the victim filed a complaint at the Police Station of Tripurakot on December 31.
According to Sub Inspector Shahi, the accused Thapa has been kept under the direct supervision of the police for the treatment and care of the victim.
The health treatment of the victim is ongoing at District Hospital from December 31, informed Dr. Akhanda Upadhyay.
