INSEC Karnali Province Office Surkhet has provided financial assistance to Amrita Chapagain Dhakal, 47, of Birendranagar Municipality. Amrita is a victim of domestic violence and she was provided support on November 21.
On October 28, 2021, the Human Rights Help Desk had recommended the assistance of NRs. 4,000 to Dhakal to assist her in the legal procedure.
While handing over the amount to the victim, Advocate Geeta Koirala, a member of the Human Help Desk, said that assistance was provided to the victims of violence to facilitate their travel and other expenses during the judicial process.
The victim Dhakal said that her husband had beaten and tortured her mentally and had also deprived her of food and clothing. Dhakal has filed a case against her husband at the District Court for divorce, the partition of property and coverage of food expenses.
Amrita Chapagain Dhakal had lodged a complaint at the help desk on August 10, saying that he had been suffering from haemophilia for six months and had been living separately with her 12-year-old son.
