INSEC district representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel has been selected in the watch group against child marriage at a meeting held in Rajbiraj on August 18, 2021.
The committee was formed under the coordination of DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of District Police Office Saptari and has 17 members including INSEC representative Pokhrel.
Other members include Shankar Sharda, Chairperson of Senior Citizens Federation, Province 2, Anita Devkota, Chairperson of Single Women’s Group Province 2, Hitnarayan Lal Das, Chairperson of Community Service Centre, Radha Chaudhary of Province Level Network Against Child Marriage, Chandra Shekhar Chaudhary, Ward Chairperson of Rajbiraj Municipality-1, Bahadur Sada, Ward Chairperson of Bishnupur Rural Municipality-6, Sanjay Sharma, Vice Chairperson of PABSON, Sudha Dev, Chairperson Parikalpana Nepal, Journalist Nanimaiya Katwal, Sushma Gupta of Women Human Rights Defenders Network, Lalita Karna of Women Security Pressure Group, Sadhana Karna, Chairperson of Gender-Based Violence Control Network Rajbiraj, Seraj Ansari of Muddi Moharram Welfare, Dhirendra Das of Sagarmatha Petroleum Dealers Association and social worker Ramila Sah.
The committee was formed after the discussion and planning meeting between the stakeholders. As the incidents of child marriage have hampered the overall rights and development of children, it has been stated that the monitoring committee will carry out all kinds of programs including role and responsibility for ending child marriage in Rajbiraj Municipality-1 and Bishnupur Rural Municipality-6.
