Police have arrested a rape accused on May 1, 2021, after 10 years after the incident.
Lek Bahadur Adhikari, also known as Ganesh Bahadur, 43, of Chainpur Municipality-10 was arrested from Khanar in Duhabi Municipality of Sunsari, informed Inspector Yograj Khatiwada of Area Police Office Chainpur. The accused had raped the victim on January 26, 2012.
The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused on January 27, 2012 at the Area Police Office, Chainpur.
Police had registered a case of rape against the accused in the district court on January 28, 2012.
A bench of the district court had proved him guilty on January 26, 2016 and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment.
According to DSP Nawaraj Malla of the District Police Office, the guilty was presented in court on May 1, 2021 and sentenced to jail term.
The girl was examined at the District Hospital on January 27, 2012.
