Weekly Update of COVID-19 Infection

The data of the recent week (December 15 to 21) shows that an average of 816 infected were added every day, whereas 1,113 were cured. According to the information released by the Ministry of Health and Population, 42,547 swabs have been tested in a week out of which 5,795 swabs were diagnosed COVID-19 positive. The ministry also said that 88 people had died of due to the infection in one week.

In Province 1,

In the past one week, according to the Ministry of Health and Population, 88 people, including 45 men and 43 women, have been infected with COVID-19 in Jhapa. Similarly, in Sunsari, there were 107 people including 55 men and 52 women, in Khotang there were two infected including one man and one woman, in Morang there were 171 people including 91 men and 80 women, in Udaypur there were nine men and two women. In Dhankuta, there were two infected including one male and one female, in Ilam, there were 18 infected including eight males and 10 females, five in Panchthar including four men and one woman, seven in Okhaldhunga including six men and one woman. This time there were three men diagnosed in Bhojpur, 11 in Sankhuwasabha including eight men and three women, 17 men and one woman in Taplejung, two men and one woman in Solukhumbu and two men and two women in Tehrathum.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 944 people in Province 1 have been infected with the virus during the one week and their swabs were tested in Koshi COVID-19 Hospital, Province Public Health Laboratory, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Ghopa Laboratory, Mechi Hospital Laboratory, Kotihom Laboratory, Nobel Hospital Laboratory, Birat Hospital Laboratory and Neuro Hospital Laboratory.

In Province 2,

In the past one week, there have been additional 95 cases diagnosed in the province. In the previous week, there were 315 new cases. There were 20,496 total infected in the province last week which has hiked to 20,588 infected in this week. With the addition of three more deaths, there has been 210 deaths in a week in this province. There are only 52 active cases in the province in this week.

In Bagmati Province,

Till date, the number of COVID-19 infections in the province has reached 1, 39,241 including 54,861 females and 84,380 males. Of the 136,965 people infected with COVID-19 last week, only 2,276 have been infected this week. Out of the total infected people in the province, 133,494 have recovered after treatment while 4,858 are undergoing treatment in isolation and home isolation of various hospitals. The number of active infections has come down from 6,049 to 4,858 this week. The death toll has reached 889 as of December 21. This is 15 more than the previous week. The death rate from COVID-19 in the province is 0.63 percent. While 39.4 percent women and 60.6 percent men were infected in the previous week the same proportion of infected men and women remained the same on December 21. Last week, out of the total number of infected in the country 54.74% was from Bagmati Province, but it has come down to 54.70 % by December 21.

In Gandaki Province,

In Gandaki, an additional 662 people have been infected with COVID-19 from December 15 to 21. Of them, 377 are males and 229 are females. Besides, the total number of infected people in the province is 15,430. This week, 969 people have recovered from COVID-19 infection. At the same time, the number of recoveries in the province is 15,661. So far, 177 people have died of the virus in the province, of which 45 have died this week. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 853 people are currently infected in the province. Of the active infected, 657 are in home isolation, 81 in ICU and 10 in ventilator.

In Sudur Paschim Province,

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, COVID-19 infection has been diagnosed in 282 people in the Sudur Paschim Province from December 15 to 21 and the number of those infected has reached 800. The infection has been diagnosed in 45 people in the Sudur Paschim Province on December 21 itself. Of them, 22 have been infected in Achham district, one in Kanchanpur, 10 in Kailali, three in Dadeldhura, four in Doti, one in Darchula and four in Bajhang. Four infected people have died in the Sudur Paschim Province this week, bringing the death toll in the province to 54. As of December 21, 12,918 infected people have been cured in the province. So far, COVID-19 has been confirmed in 13,772 people in the Sudur Paschim Province.
