A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts have decided to issue a prohibitory order for one week from midnight of August 19.
Chief District Officers have issued separate orders urging people not to go out during this period except for the purchase of medicines, food items and essential items.
“The outbreak of COVID-19, which is spreading globally, is on the rise in the Kathmandu Valley,”- mentioned in the statement of the Chief District Officer.
Stating that it is necessary to make the prevention and control of COVID-19 more effective, the District Administration Offices have decided to prohibit regular activities from the midnight of August 19 to August 26 in accordance with Section 2 of the Infectious Diseases Act 2020 and Section 6 (3) of the Local Administration Act 2028.
A 17-point order issued by Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Mahesh Raj Dahal has imposed a prohibition on the entire district.
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Narayan Prasad Bhatta and Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur Humkala Pandey have issued eight-point orders stating that the prohibition will be enforced in the entire district.
Transportation of essential items, commuting of health workers, and security personnel has been prohibited in all the three districts.
According to the order, hotels, restaurants, shops in the footpath will also be closed and banks and other agencies will be able to provide services by keeping minimum staff and following health safety standards.
