Disaster victims complaints of violation of their food rights

The disaster victims of Melauli-3, Shyaltadi have complained that their food rights have been violated. They said that their food rights have been violated after the concerned authority did not take any initiation to rebuilt the irrigation canal that was damaged by lanslide in 2008.

The lanslide in 2008 had damaged 550 meters long irregation canal resulting the displacement of 50 families.

“Due to the lack of irrigation there were no cultivating land and we were compelled to live village”, said one of the victim.

They have been informing the concerned bodies from time to time for rebuilt of irrigation however no initiation has been taken yet.

After the cultivating land turned into desert, 31 families had left Shyatadi and started to live in Marudra-6.

Locals says that without irrigation, there is no agriculture production in that area. After the damage of canal, at about 800 ropanis of land became unproductive.

“we have been complaing about the situation however no one listens to it says local Ram Chandra Ojha.

Last year, the District Development Committee had promised to provide Rs 300,000 however at last they denied the promise, he said.
