Police have arrested Sonam Gurung, 53, of Amarsingh Chowk in Pokhara Metropolitan-12 and Roshan Gurung, 32, of Ritthepani in Pokhara Municipality-27 in accusation of forcing a 29-year-old woman into prostitution. Sonam Gurung is an owner of an eatery in Amarsingh Chowk. They were arrested on July 30, 2021.
DSP Subash Hamal informed that initially the accused had lured the victim saying they would manage a good job for her and later she was threatened and forced into prostitution. She had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on July 30.
He further added that a case of human trafficking has been filed against the accused and investigation has begun. On August 1, 2021, the victim has been handed over to her family after counselling.
The health checkup of the victim was conducted on July 31, 2021.
