Stating that the number of rape cases has increased, the Attorney General’s Office has directed the subordinate office to file a petition in the court within seven days for continuous hearing in the rape case.
In a circular issued to his subordinate offices on October 4, Attorney General Lokraj Parajuli has directed the Government of Nepal to take action and hold a hearing on all the defendants in the criminal case filed by the applicants in the Criminal Procedure Code.
The circular also includes cases related to rape, which are frequently heard for heinous crimes such as rape. The Office of the Attorney General has issued a circular to all public prosecutors’ offices seeking a hearing following this legal provision.
It has been mentioned in the circular that the number of cases to be filed in this way, continuous action and progress details of the hearing should be made available regularly.
