INSEC Held Human Rights Help Desk Meeting in Banke

The human rights help desk meeting was organized by the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) Lumbini Province Office, Nepalgunj with the coordination of DCA on 23 August in Nepalgunj. INSEC Lumbini Provincial Coordinator Bhola Mahat emphasized the purpose of the program, stating that they have been supporting women and children who have been victims of domestic violence, rape, and sexual abuse, based on recommendations from various stakeholders, including district representatives, human rights defenders, human rights groups, civil society, and legal professionals. He also mentioned that they are working to reduce incidents of human rights violations and abuses by coordinating with all relevant agencies.

Teknath Acharya, Program Officer of INSEC, stated that since January 2024, 24 victims from various districts have been provided with financial support for legal aid and access to justice. This support is specifically aimed at women and children who are victims of domestic violence, rape, and sexual abuse. Basanta Gautam Advocate and Provincial Coordinator of Advocacy Forum, Lumbini said that it would be effective if representatives of the Women, Children and Senior Citizen Service Center were also present in the meeting of the human rights help desk in the coming days. Advocate Bikas Acharya added that the implementation processes at police offices have significantly improved, and more discussions are needed to make them even more effective.
