With financial support from DCA, a meeting of the Human Rights Assistance Desk formed by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Madhesh Province, was held in Janakpur on June 30, 2026, under the chairpersonship of the Desk Coordinator, Advocate Raj Kumar Mahaseth.
Coordinator Raj Kumar Mahaseth stated that providing timely assistance to survivors of violence is a vital aspect of and responsibility for the protection of human rights. He further noted that the Assistance Desk will continue to provide support, coordination, and follow-up based on the needs of survivors in the days ahead.

Human Rights Officer Kiran Ghimire from the National Human Rights Commission, Madhesh Province Office, emphasized the need to prioritize coordinated follow-up to assess whether survivors who received assistance have gained access to justice, whether they have obtained justice, or whether they continue to face further risks.
Jamuna Bhujel of Amnesty International stated that women and girls are disproportionately affected by violence and that the financial assistance provided through the Human Rights Assistance Desk has also helped boost the morale of survivors.
Similarly, INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator Raju Paswan urged the human rights defenders affiliated with the Assistance Desk to play an active role in ensuring that poor and vulnerable survivors are able to access its services. He noted that the Human Rights Assistance Desk has become an effective mechanism for providing timely financial assistance, facilitating access to legal processes, and supporting survivors of violence. He further stressed the need to strengthen coordination and collaboration among relevant agencies to ensure survivors’ access to justice.
The meeting also reviewed the financial assistance provided to survivors of violence through the Human Rights Assistance Desk and assessed the situation of those who had benefited from the support. It was shared that between April and June 2026, the Assistance Desk provided financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each to 12 survivors of violence. The meeting subsequently endorsed the disbursement of the assistance funds.
The meeting was attended by Human Rights Officer Kiran Ghimire of the National Human Rights Commission; Madhesh Province Coordinator Pradeep Yadav of Nil Hira Society; human rights defenders Jamuna Bhujel, Subhadra Ale, and Arjun Shah; Documentation Officer Mamata Bishwakarma from the INSEC Madhesh Province Office; INSEC Dhanusha Representative Santosh Kumar Yadav; and other human rights defenders.
