District-Level Children’s Assembly Concludes in Siraha; 19-Member District Child Network Formed

The program was jointly organized by the District Coordination Committee Siraha, INSEC, Mukti Nepal, Sahayogi Hatharu, Dalit Jan Kalyan Youth Club Lahan/Sawas Project, Dalit Development Forum, Sabal Nepal, Human Rights Protection Centre Network, Women Human Rights Defenders Network, Civil Society Organizations Network for Child Rights in Madhesh Province, Sabari Sankalp, and other partner organizations.

The assembly formed a 19-member Child Club Network under the chairmanship of Amit Saday. The newly formed committee includes Ritika Kumari Das as Vice-Chairperson, Pooja Kumari Sah as Secretary, and Safal Shrestha as Co-Secretary. Other members are Roshi Gole, Bishnu Sah, R.N. Mahato, Pooja Kumari Mahato, Subhash Kumar Yadav, Arti Kumari Das, Abhinash Malik, Arti Yadav, Saraswati Kumari Yadav, Krishna Pariyar, Radha Kumari Sah, Prayash Saday, Prem Kumar Pasman, Ganit Chaudhary, and Rikesh Mahato.

Addressing the program, Dinesh Kumar Mahato, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Siraha, stated that the program was successfully conducted under the direction of the Madhesh Province Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare and through the joint efforts of various organizations. He emphasized that local governments should also form municipal-level child clubs and allocate budgets for the protection and promotion of children’s rights. He further noted that cooperation from all stakeholders is essential for the best interests of children, adding that the District Coordination Committee remains always committed to the promotion and protection of child rights.

Similarly, Vice-Chairperson of the District Coordination Committee, Dilip Lama, stated that all local levels should form child clubs from the ward and school levels up to municipal and rural municipality levels. He urged that child clubs be formed with budget allocation for the protection, participation, and promotion of children, as well as for capacity and leadership development.

Likewise, Inspector Suman Nepali from the District Police Office, Siraha, stated that children should avoid bad influences affecting themselves and other children in the community and should focus on education for a bright future. He also urged children to immediately inform the police if they face any problems.

The program was attended by INSEC representative Durga Pariyar, Chairperson of Mukti Nepal Dev Kumari Mahara, Executive Director of Dalit Jan Kalyan Youth Club Binod Bisunke, District Coordinator of Dalit Development Forum Sarita Mahara, and Sabal Nepal representative Nir Bahadur Magar Ale, among others.
