In the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Health and Population, the spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr Bikash Devkota informed regarding 10 more positive cases of COVID-19. One of the positive cases is from Parsa and the other nine are from Nepalgunj. The patient from Parsa is in the isolation ward of Narayani Sub Regional Hospital. Remaining nine from Nepalgunj are five men and four women belonging to the age group seven to 58. But, later in the evening, six more cases were added in Nepalgunj and Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari informed about it through a press statement. Therefore, at present, there are 75 positive cases of COVID-19 in Nepal.
According to the spokesperson Dr Devkota 13,414 PCR and 49,388 RDT have been conducted till date. Likewise, there are 21,951 people in quarantine and 77 are in isolation. Out of them, four are in Kathmandu and other 73 are in different districts. Dr Devkota has requested not to disclose the names of these patients and their doctors.

Provincial Reports
In Province 1, 7,272 corona tests have been conducted. According to the Chief Minister and Cabinet 5,716 RDT have been conducted. Likewise, 1,556 PCR have been conducted. 2,063 people are staying in quarantine. There are 38 in isolation and 6,925 in-home quarantine. In Koshi Hospital, swab test was conducted for those doctors devoted to the treatment of corona patients all of them resulted negative. 28 health professionals are working for those patients. There are 31 COVID-19 patients in this hospital. In Jhapa’s Shivasatakshi Municipality, there were 300 houses halted during construction and 50 of them have resumed their work. Om Sai Pathibhara Hospital of Jhapa has given their 146 staffs- doctors, nurses and employees a year of Life Insurance.
In Province 2, Parsa has one more patient of the corona. He is in the isolation ward of Narayani Sub Regional Hospital. Meanwhile, the locality he resided in has been sealed and tracing has started. A 19-year-old of Ishnath Municipality-8 was shifted to isolation after his symptoms were similar to that of COVID-19. His swab has been collected but since the result is pending, it is not confirmed yet. Out of 2,433 swabs, 2,090 resulted negative and 13 resulted positive. There are 5,250 RDT conducted out of which 5,240 were negative and 10 were positive. There are 1,295 in quarantine and 4,484 in-home quarantine. In the isolation ward, there are 29 people.
In Bagmati Province, the orphans facing a crisis of food were provided relief by Kamalamai Municipality. After INSEC’s representative Bimala Pandey monitored and informed the local level, they were provided with relief. Nepal Transportation Independent Labourers, Bhaktapur Minibus Unit has provided relief to those transportation labourers who are unemployed these days due to the lockdown. Panchkhal Municipality Kavre has started online classes targeting the SEE appearing students.
In Gandaki Province, a total of 635 swabs have been tested and 633 resulted negative. On 3 May 48 RDT was conducted. Pokhara Metropolitan has provided Ghee, Horlicks, Oil, Soaps and Rs 500 to 18 women who had recently given birth. Lamjung’s Besisahar Municipality has provided free medicines to the patients of heart, blood pressure, diabetes and asthma. These medicines were distributed to two thousand and five hundred people.

In Province 5, 15 patients were detected on the same day. They were diagnosed in Nepalgunj. Now there are 17 COVID-19 patients in this province. In Banke, the family of a 60-year-old was found infected. Due to the lockdown, the daily-wage dependent families facing crisis were provided relief. In Dang, 17,903 families were provided relief.

In Karnali Province, the locals stuck in Nepalgunj and Surkhet were rescued by air on 2 May. The students and elderly who belong to the mountainous districts with no road links were airlifted with 50% off in their ticket fare. The provincial government of Karnali had decided to give them 50% off. Citizens coming back from India or third countries to Jumla are kept in quarantine but since the quarantine did not meet the criteria of the government, these people have filed a writ at the High Court. Rukum (west)’s Aathbiskot Municipality will be providing relief and employment to the daily-waged workers. Likewise, they have also encouraged the farmers to continue production in their fields. Even when quarantine was established at Jajarkot’s Bheri Municipality-1 to keep the people returning from Nuwakot and Baitadi, 14 labourers decided to stay in the forest cave after which they were provided with necessary clothes and food provisions.

In Sudur Paschim Province, after Juney Luhar (67) of Puchaudi Municipality-6, who was rescued from the Indian border of Julaghat died on 2 May while being taken for quarantine of his local level, his swab was collected and sent for test on 3 May. Only after the result, he causes behind his death will be clarified. A total of 260 students of Achham District’s Bannigadi- Jaygad rural municipality’s all six wards were provided with 12kg rice, 2kg lentil, one kg iodinated salt and one-litre oil. These things were provided to their rental rooms.
