Accused in Killi Case Sentenced to 16 Years and 8 Months in Prison

The Kapilvastu District Court has sentenced two juveniles, aged 16 and 17, to 16 years and eight months in jail for the killing of Dal Bahadur Kumal, 55,  of Madhyabindu Municipality–15, Nawalparasi.

A bench of Judge Ramesh Sharma Poudel on May 10, 2026, found the accused guilty and ordered them to serve 16 years and eight months in prison. The court also directed them to pay compensation of Rs. 167,000 to the victim’s legal heirs, according to District Court Registrar Ananta Marasini.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, the accused assaulted Kumal on April 18, 2025. He later died on May 4, 2025, while undergoing treatment at Lumbini City Hospital in Butwal due to injuries sustained in the beating. The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the Kapilvastu District Police Office on May 5, 2025.

The victim underwent a medical examination on the same day at Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal. Police arrested the accused on April 18, 2025.
