Province Two media briefing on April 8, has delivered the message that among 103 COVID-19 sample tests, 87 test reports resulted in negative and the result of remaining 16 test reports is yet to come. In the province, 3,174 beds quarantine shelters have been established in 144 different places. There are 936 people kept in those shelters and 1,213 people are in-home quarantine. The province also has 208-bed capacity isolation wards where 22 people are kept.
Mobilizing the Armed Police Force, 109 entry points of Neal-India border have been closed. To prevent the flow of people in border areas, the provincial government in coordination with local government and security mechanisms has been implementing the lockdown.
According to the District Representative of Dhanusha, Dipendra Prasad Singh, Laxminiya Rural Municipality has distributed relief packages to the socially and economically marginalized 800 different households. Rural Municipality Chairperson Bindeshwor Yadav has said that to prevent coronavirus spread, the local government has provided masks, sanitizers, hand washing soaps to the community people.
Police have arrested the owner of Amrita Suppliers of Kshireshwornath Municipality-5, Birendra Shah for his involvement in black marketing. Ganeshman Municipality had ordered 1,500 relief packages but Shah reduced the weight of each food material and sold them to the municipality.
According to the District Representative of Rautahat, Kopila Timilshina, 244 people are kept in quarantine and COVID-19 test of 49 people had been conducted. Among tested cases test report of 17 people resulted in negative and the result of remaining test reports is yet to come. In total 836 beds, quarantine shelters and 591 PPE equipments have been provided in Rautahat.
According to the District Representative of Sarlahi, Budhan Shah, Malangawa Municipality has provided essential food supplies and 300 NPR to 2,000 daily wage earners who lost their earning opportunities due to Coronavirus outbreak. Municipality Mayor Nirashal Shah has said that relief packages have been distributed within province government’s guidelines.
According to the District Representative of Mahottari, Ajay Kumar Shah, 15 Indian boys are kept in quarantine shelter. Due to the lockdown, they could not cross the Nepalese border to reach India and they were found hiding in a house in Ekadara Village. District Administration Office, after getting the information, kept them in quarantine shelter in Mahottari.
According to the District Representative of Bara, Bholanath Poudel, 1,175 families of daily wage workers and marginalized community have been provided essential food supplies by Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City Office. Likewise, food supplies to the people in need are provided by Maagadhimai Rural Municipality-1, and Simrogadh Municipality, Paravanipur Rural Municipality.
Armed Police Force has been appointed to stop people from migrating at the Nepal-India border. Armed Police Force, Superintendent of Police Digvijay Subedi has said that security forces are deployed in 6 check posts of the district to ensure strict implementation of the lockdown.
In the district, 408 beds quarantine shelters have been established and 95 people are kept in quarantine until April 8. Local governments in coordination with province government have taken the following initiatives to control coronavirus spread.

According to the District Representative of Siraha District, Durga Pariyar, because of breaking the lockdown rules, a total of 28 vehicles which includes motorcycles, an ambulance and a truck have been seized by District Police Office Siraha. In the district, 123 people are kept in quarantine shelters whereas 468 people who had returned from foreign countries are in-home quarantine. A 40-bed capacity isolation wards and 246-bed capacity quarantine wards have been established in Siraha. Chief District Officer Saroj Guragain has said that isolation and quarantine shelters will be added as needed.
According to the District Representative of Saptari District, Manohar Kumar Pokharel, 220 people are kept in quarantine until April 8. All foreign returnees and their families are kept in quarantine shelters and home quarantine. Chinnamasta Rural Municipality has declared that 1.5 Million NPR will be provided as allowances to the families of the deceased who worked in the front line as an elected representative or health worker. The rural municipality has also established a 2.5 Millions NPR emergency fund to fight against COVID-19.
According to the District Representative of Parsha, Keshi Lamichhane, Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality has collected data of 1,600 households of the very poor families who need emergency support due to the coronavirus outbreak. Rural municipality has started to distribute essential food supplies to the daily wage earners.
To prevent further spread of Coronavirus, police administration in coordination with local governments has started the strict implementation of the lockdown.
