The provincial government of Karnali has decided to provide fund for the Corona Virus prevention, control, treatment, relief and other necessary management.
In a cabinet meeting held on 7 April, the provincial government has decided on giving 3 million to Birendranagr Municipality and 2 million to other municipalities. They have also decided on giving 1.5 million to the rural municipalities. They have requested the government to manage the Karnali natives living out of the province and the country. They also requested on managing a mobile checkup facility so that they can test every individual living in the province. Since all the health workers are occupied in the coronavirus prevention and control, they also requested on managing a team of specialists as they contingency for the other seasonal epidemics.
According to the District Representative of Kalikot, Kali Bahadur Malla, five ‘throat swabs’ were taken by the Internal Affairs Minister of Karnali Province on 6 April to Surkhet after a meeting of Disaster Management Committee. These throat swabs belonged to people who came from Malaysia, Qatar and Kailali. There are 165 men and 11 women in quarantine in Kailali.
According to the District Representative of Rukum West, Manisha K.C, to prevent and control the infection of Corona Virus, it has been prohibited to travel around all 14 wards. Chaurahari Municipality has allocated a budget of 6 million to the Disaster Management Fund. They will be collecting the funds through the 3/5 days salary of their employees. They have received a relief of 40 sacks of rice from the chairperson of the FNCCI and 100 sacks rice from Chaujahari Hospital. Corona special hospital is being constructed at the Aathbiskot Municipality with 12 beds. This hospital will be ready within 10 days. The quarantined seven of Musikot have returned back.
According to the District Representative of Humla, Nanda Singh, after the local’s complaint regarding the poor quality of the relief, the authorities monitored the stores. Out of 150 quintals of rice, 35 quintals were decayed. The 10 people living in quarantine of Mugu were sent back home after showing no signs till the 14th day. The District Security Committee has established ‘COVID-19’ Crisis Management Centre.
According to the District Representative of Jajarkot, Dinesh Shrestha, Forest and Environment Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet has sent necessary health equipment to Jajarkot. There were PPE, 10 thermal guns, 1700 masks, 12 beds, 100 gauze, 10 gowns, 450 gloves, Detol soaps, Detol Liquid and hand wash. Likewise, Federation of Construction Management’s Central Deputy Chairperson Ratna Bahadur Khadka has provided 100 sets of PPE on 7 April. District Coordination Committee’s member Tej Bikram Shah provided 30kg rice, 2kg lentils, a litre of oil and 1 kg salt to 83 needy families in Bheri Municipality-3.
According to the District Representative of Jumla, Man Datta Rawal, throat swabs of 324 people have been collected and were sent to Kathmandu.
According to the District Representative of Dolpa, Bishnu Prasad Devkota, Thulibheri Municipality has managed a fund of 1 million for the Corona Disaster Management. This fund will also be used to provide relief to the needy.
