Communication and Information Technology Minister, Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada has instructed the media and communication providing organizations to only on giving effective news regarding control and risk reduction of Covid-19.
In a meeting with the heads of the commissions at the Ministry of Communication, Khatiwada instructed them to not create any panic situation for the civilians. He also instructed on being active regarding updated information circulation.
He said, ‘if anyone is found creating fake news and spreading it through social media then legal action will be taken against them.’ He added- if the public media gives timely updated information, it will discourage other media to spread rumours.’
He also requested the concerned authorities to manage online classes for students when required for the students to study from home. In the discussion, Dr. Khatiwada shared that the factual information regarding Covid-19 will be provided by the agencies which are led by the government.
