Fourteen Years of Badarmude Incident: Victims still awaits justice

It is the 14th anniversary of the barbaric incident of Badarmude, however till now neither the victims were delivered with justice neither they were told what actually had happened. In 2005 June 5, the then Maoist had ambushed a public bus in Badarmude of Chitwan killing 38 people with injuries of many.

Informal Sector Service (INSEC) on June 5 released the press statement signed by the chairperson Dr Indira Sharma and has demanded the investigation of the incident and justice to the victims.

The statement says “ The then chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal of CPN Maoist  had released a press statement and apologized about the incident and committed to make public about the facts of the incident”.

The justice to the victims were described in Comprehensive Peace Accord and in many other agreements including Badarmude however 14 years has been lapsed without justice and reparation according to INSEC.

The Badarmude incident is one of the barbaric incidents where may people had lost their lives. The statement also shows concern on the apathy shown by the transitional justice mechanisms on providing justice to the victims.
