Maoist leader and parliamentary candidate from Rolpa,Barshaman Pun’s vehicle was ambushed at around 10:20 AM at Bhittabang Mardi rural municipality today. The vehicle, travelling to Dhartigau from Sukhaodar in the election campaign suffered minor damage according to RSS source. At the same time, the vehicle used by Pun was attacked with bullet by an unidentified group on November 12. No damage was reported in the incident according to inspector Sudarshan Panta.
Following the incident, Pun has requested the state for safety of election candidates. Condemning those involved, Pun said, “the government must focus in the safety of election candidates. These activities must be stopped immediately.”
Pun currently is at Ghartigau where the police has heavily deployed its personnel. Police have suspected Biplov led Maoist Communist Party for the attack.
After the incident the security of the area has been tightened according to police source. Candidate Pun , after the incident, has condemned the incident and urged government for the security of all candidate.
Life affected by the strike called on by NCP
The normal lives of people has been affected in Rolpa after the strike called on by Nepal Communist Party demanding the release of their arrested District leader without any condition.
Police had arrested District Secretary Santosh Subedi and Incharge Dal Bahadur Khatri on November 8 on charge of operating anti-election activities. The schools were affected due to the strike and commuters are stranded due to the disruption in transportation.
