A participants in a workshop program organized by INSEC in Nepalgunj on United Nation’s Human Rights Mechanism has given a stress on putting untouchability under a serious crime while formulating laws and policies.
Vice- chairman Eek Maya B.K of Khajura Rural Municipality said that the nature of untouchability has been changed. She added that without raising awareness, only laws and policies are not enough.
Regional director Murari Prasad Kharel of NHRC had informed about the universal periodic report.
Samjha Shrestha of INSEC central office said that women and Dalit are more victimized by the untouchability.
Ram Prasad Gautam of UNICEF informed about the data of Dalit in Terai and Madhes which was made public by Data department of the government.
Advocate Rup Narayan B.K said that the law enforcement against untouchability is very weak.
