Election is the backbone of Human Rights: Speakers

The speakers in the program organized by CCCE on Human Rights and Election on June 14 said that participating the election without fear is their fundamental rights of the people.

The interaction program has been participated by the representatives from various rights organization of the district, civil society. Media personnel, intellectuals and representatives from government and non-government organization. Most of the speakers put the view about the situation of Rautahat district in context of election.

Speaking at the program, INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel said that local government is the necessity for today and said that to select the representative via election is the fundamental rights of people and no one should obstruct this process.

He also said that rights of the people cannot be violated in the name of constitution amendment. He stressed that population is not only the state and geography must be taken as a base. If only population is considered than in Kathmandu there will be 40 local levels, he said

Speaking at the program HURON chairperson Indra Aryal said that if election is obstructed, the risk of regression increases .

The program was chaired by chairperson Dr Yogendra Prasad Yadav of HURON , Rautahat. Representatives from political parties, civil society have put their view during the interaction.
