Individuals Arrested for Arson and Looting at Police Post During Protest

Police have arrested individuals involved in the arson and looting of a police post during the Gen-Z protest. SSP Shyam Krishna Adhikari of the Lalitpur District Police Office reported that Srishti Tamang,24, of Sanepa, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-2, and Dhirendra Chand, 24, originally from Malouli Municipality-9, Baitadi, and currently residing in Kopundol, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-10, were arrested for vandalizing and setting fire to the Hanumansthan Police Post in Kopundol, Lalitpur, on 9 September 2025.

Police reported that the accused vandalized and set fire to the police post, looting police uniforms, weapons, and food supplies stored there. SSP Adhikari stated that the arrests were made after studying footage of the incident circulated on various social media platforms.

Similarly, police arrested four individuals for breaking into a house in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-11, looting goods worth Rs 576,400, and setting it on fire. Based on CCTV footage, the arrested individuals include Indian citizen Seraj Alam, 18, Manish Sunar, 28, from Rautahat, Sahajat Mia,21, from Bara, and Fursang Lama,25, from Kavre.

Similarly, police arrested Dipak Rai,24, from Thaiba, Godawari Municipality-14, in connection with the weapons looted from the Harisiddhi Police Post. Police recovered two pistols and several bullets from him.

In addition, six individuals involved in vandalism and arson at the Imadol Police Post were also arrested. Three of them were from Mahalaxmi Municipality-8, Lubhu, and three from Mahalaxmi Municipality-4, Imadol. The arrested individuals include Rajkumar Tamang,20, Gokarna Rai, 22, Krishnaraj Giri,20, Sunil Kumar Basnet, 31, Saroj Nepali, 22, and Naresh Tamang, 21. Police reported that items such as police boots, belts, and jewelry were also recovered from them.
