INSEC Urges Prime Minister to Resign and Cooperate with Judicial Investigation

The Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) issued a  Press Release on 9 September, demanding a judicial investigation into the massacre in Kathmandu and calling for the Prime Minister’s resignation. The press release, signed by INSEC Chair Dr. Kundan Aryal demands for a judicial investigation into the state-perpetrated massacre during the Gen Z protests in Kathmandu on 8 September, which were held against the government’s decisions on corruption, mismanagement, and the social media shutdown.

The press release states that the decision made by the Cabinet yesterday to form an investigation committee cannot be considered valid. It emphasizes that the current government has lost its legitimacy, and the responsibility to form a powerful commission and ensure an impartial judicial investigation now lies with the next government. The release also demands guarantees that, unlike in the past, the recommendations of such commissions are fully implemented and not ignored.
