Civil Hospital, Baneshwor has reported that one protester, injured during the Gen-z Protest in Kathmandu on 8 September against the government’s decisions on corruption, mismanagement, and the shutdown of social media, died while receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital. More than a hundred others are receiving treatment at the same hospital and other hospitals across Kathmandu. The protesters had gathered at Maitighar in Kathmandu since the morning and, after 11 AM, marched via Babarmahal to New Baneshwor.

Police used water cannons to control the crowd after the protesters were advancing toward the Parliament building while breaching the restricted zone. The police fired warning shots as well as live bullets. Two journalists were injured by the police gunfire. Photojournalist Dipendra Dhungana from Naya Patrika Daily and journalist Shyam Shrestha from Kantipur Television were among those injured.
To control the protest, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has imposed a curfew around Baneshwor, Singha Durbar, Baluwatar, and Shital Niwas.
