The Kapilvastu District Court has sentenced Bishram Nau, 22, of Bangai, Kapilvastu Municipality–11, to 11 years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl.
The bench of Judge Krita Bahadur Bohora on July 16, 2025, found the accused guilty and issued the verdict of 11 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 500,000, compensation of Rs 10,000 to be paid to the victim, an additional Rs 50,000 to be provided to the victim, and Rs 20,000 to be deposited into the victim relief fund, informed Court Registrar Kamal Kumar Acharya.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on November 23, 2020, accusing the accused had raped the girl on August 21, 2020. Police arrested the accused on November 27.
The victim underwent a medical examination on November 23, 2020, at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa.
