There has been an acute shortage of free-medicine in health organizations of the remote part of the village despite of government’s announcement to provide 70 types of medicines in District health office, 58 in Primary health center and 35 types of medicines in health posts.
The patients are facing difficult after the crunch in free medicine and are deprived of basic rights to health. For the district hospital of Mugu, medicines costing 18 to 25 lakhs are being transported annually through contractor.
Karma lama of Dolpu VDC-5 said that she came to get the free medicines after knowing that the government is distributing 35 types of free medicine however she could not get even Citamol.
There has been complaint that there is always shortage of medicine in 24 health posts, four areas and one primary health post of the district.
The locals have been complaining that the medicines are being sold before it reaches to the health organizations. Chief Dr Saroj Adhikari of District Health Office said that the investigation has been initiated for the loss of medicine during transportation.
Prem Bahadur Rawat, of District Health Office said that medicines have been transported to all health organizations of the district as per demand.
