The court has sentenced Mahesh Chauhan, 30, a resident of Nanpara Gulhariya, Baharaicha District, India, currently living in Duduwa Rural Municipality–1, Banke, to 25 years in prison for the rape and killing of a 14-year-old girl. The bench of District Judge Chandraprakash Tiwari on July 7 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 25 years in prison along with a compensation of Rs 200,000 according to court information officer Tirtharaj Acharya.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on November 1, stating that the accused raped the girl on October 31, 2023. Police had arrested the accused on November 4.
The post-mortem of the girl was done at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj on November 1.
