Rakhi Devi Das, 32, of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-21, filed a complaint against her husband, Pappu Das, 37, at the Kurtha Police Post on June 9. The victim and the accused were married on April 22, 2024. Although the groom received a dowry including Rs 100,000, a motorcycle, gold, and furniture, the husband allegedly demanded additional dowry and beat the victim on 17 July and evicted her from the house.
The victim previously filed a complaint against the accused at the Kurtha Police Post on July 17. Based on the complaint, Das was arrested the same day and a settlement was made after a discussion between both parties at the police post. However, on June 8, 2025, the accused physically abused his wife over dowry and injured her. The woman sustained injuries to her head and nose. She is receiving medical treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham. The victim’s father, Ram Briksha Das, stated that the accused has been absconding since the incident.
Senior Constable Ramchandra Mandal of Kurtha Police Post informed that the police are currently searching for the accused.
