The number of patients at the District Hospital has increased, leading to a shortage of beds. Since the second week of May, the hospital has seen a rise in viral fever cases, causing overcrowding. Information Officer Anas Limbu said that although no patients with complex conditions have arrived at the District Hospital, it has been treating patients with cough, cold, and viral fever. Limbu said more than 300 patients have been visiting the hospital daily for treatment. The hospital provided services to 1,089 patients within a week. The rising number of patients has led to a bed shortage, and the hospital has been accommodating patients in passages, hallways and in wooden benches. The hospital administration also reported that the patient load has increased due to a rise in fever cases among children, requiring medicines to be kept ready for some time. The District Hospital provided services to 58,140 patients in the fiscal year 2024–2025.
Doctors say viral fever causes symptoms such as headache, fever, vomiting, shortness of breath, and cold. The District Hospital serves patients not only from its 10 local levels but also from more than half of the neighboring district, Bhojpur.
