Five Arrested During Monarchist Protest

Police arrested five individuals from the Shanti Batika area and the Nepal Electricity Authority office area on May 29 for charges of infiltration during a monarchist demonstration held on Republic Day. SP Apilraj Bohora of the District Police Office reported that the arrested individuals include Ghanshyam Neupane, 22, from Piyu Rural Municipality-5, Parbat, Brij Mohan Rai, 23, from Bihar, India, Shivaraj Jaisi, 17, from Ghodaghodi Municipality-1, Kailali, Ashish Lama, 26, from Tinghare, Belkotgadhi Municipality-7, Nuwakot, and Paras Rana, 21, from K.I. Singh Rural Municipality-5, Doti.

SP Bohora further explained that Ghanshyam Neupane and Brij Mohan Rai were arrested near the Electricity Authority office and are currently held at Singh Durbar Police Station. Following reports from protest participants that Shivaraj Jaisi had trespassed from the Shanti Batika area, he was taken into custody at Durbar Marga Police Station. Additionally, Ashish Lama and Paras Rana were detained at Jansewa Police Station on suspicion of infiltration. The District Police Office Kathmandu stated that further investigation is ongoing regarding all five arrested individuals.
