Police arrested Sher Bahadur Thapa, 39, of Aathabis Municipality-6, Dailekh and currently residing in Birendranagar Municipality-7, on May 26 for the charge of caste-based discrimination. The National Dalit Journalists Association Nepal, Karnali Province Committee had filed a complaint against him at the District Police Office on April 24, 2025, after he posted a caste-based derogatory comment on a Facebook status made by Bal Bahadur Thapa on April 23. Thapa had been absconding after the complaint was filed.
He had been working as the Karnali Province representative for Lokantar.com, an online news portal. District Police Office DSP Mohan Jung Budhathapa informed that the accused has been arrested and further investigation is ongoing.
