A discussion program on the report prepared by non-governmental organizations for the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of human rights was held in Dhulikhel on May 21. The event was jointly organized by INSEC and UPR Info and was attended by representatives from various non-governmental organizations. During the program, INSEC Executive Director Bijay Raj Gautam shed light on the objectives of the workshop and the process of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of human rights. He stated that the recommendations and feedback provided by civil society organizations play a significant role in shaping the outcomes of the UPR process.


Claire Moretto, Program Coordinator at UPR Info, expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts made by the civil society of Nepal in preparing reports for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

Kapil Aryal, Consultant at UPR Info, stated that the final report will be prepared by incorporating the suggestions gathered from the discussions held during the program. He mentioned that the feedback received through the workshop would be compiled and refined to produce the final version of the report.

Samjha Shrestha, Chief of the Human Rights Advocacy Program at INSEC Central Office, emphasized that the review is crucial for ensuring the human rights of citizens and urged participants to contribute their suggestions to the report. The workshop is scheduled to run over two days.
