Most of the students in the district are facing text book crunch even after the academic session is about to end. The text book demands for the primary level has been met however lower secondary and secondary level students are still complaining of not getting any books.
In Baitadi district, there are 319 primary schools, 103 lower secondary school, 56 secondary school and 51 higher secondary school. The inspector and information officer Shankar Datta Joshi of District Education Office said that the shortages in book are due to the weakness in distributing system.
According to Joshi, most of the students are studying by borrowing books from their seniors. They have already attempted quarterly and half yearly exam and until now, the government is not able to meet the demand of the students.
In this academic year, 43,160 girl students and 39,409 boy students are enrolled in the school according to the District Education Office.
