A 7-year-old and a 5-year-old child from Bharatpur Metropolitan City–25, Shukranagar were attacked by their father Lilaraj Giri, 42 on the morning of May 16 at around 10 a.m. Giri reportedly attacked the children with a sharp weapon and injured them. Both died while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.
After the incident, Lilaraj slit his own throat and is undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College in critical condition. The motive behind the incident is yet to be determined. DSP Rabindra Khanal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Chitwan, stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
