The District Court sentenced Akash Kalwar,22, and Avashesh Kumar Pandey,23 of Basantapur, Yashodhara Rural Municipality–3, to 18 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of raping a 14-year-old girl. District Court Registrar Hemanta Gyawali informed that the bench of Judge Krita Bahadur Bohora, on April 29, 2025, convicted the accused and sentenced them to 18 years and 6 months in prison, imposed a fine of Rs. 700,000, and ordered them to deposit Rs. 20,000 into the Victim Relief Fund.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on July 1, 2024, stating that the accused had raped the girl on June 28, 2024. The police arrested the accused on June 30, 2024, and the victim underwent a medical examination on June 30 at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa.
