According to SP Apilraj Bohara of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, 26 teachers and school staff were injured in a clash with the police after the protesting teachers attempted to breach the prohibited area in Baneshwor on April 27. The teachers had been staging street protests demanding the Education Act since April 2.
The injured include Subash Giri from Sindhupalchok, Bhagwan Shakya from Gorkha, Deep Bahadur Gharti and Punya Sharma from Bardiya, Kamal Bahadur Basnet from Sindhuli, Bikash Raj Jha from Mahottari, Hari Prasad Joshi, Shobhajung KC, Mamta Kumari Shah from Bajhang, Punyamani Joshi from Kanchanpur, Bhanubhakta Mainali from Baglung, Bishnu Kumari Subedi from Nuwakot, Khadak Mani from Kailali, Dharma Singh Sarki and Lilabhakta Basnet from Khotang, Dev Kumari Yadav from Siraha, Mahendra Shah from Dhanusha, Tej Bahadur Khatri from Jajarkot, Birendra Pandit from Rautahat, Bechan Yadav from Dhanusha, Devisharma Dhital and Ram Bahadur Shahi from Jumla, Prabin Diyali, Krishna Maya Rijal, Shanta Niroula from Jhapa, Yash Gautam from Arghakhanchi, Kusum Kumari Shah from Rautahat, and Journalist Sabina Karki.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Trauma Center, Civil Hospital, and Everest Hospital in Baneshwor as per Shankar Adhikari, the Chairperson of the All Nepal Unified Teachers’ Association.
