Drinking Water Shortage Caused Significant Challenges to Locals in District Headquarters

The shortage of drinking water in Manma Khadachakra Municipality-1, the district headquarters, has significantly affected locals, including hotel operators and other residents. Local Manju Nepali stated that they have been facing an extreme water shortage due to less flow from the source during the dry season and inconsistencies in the water distribution system. She mentioned that negligence in the distribution system by the Drinking Water Consumer Committee has led to the shortage. According to her, the irregular supply of taps has created a severe drinking water crisis, even in the district headquarters.

As the drinking water crisis intensifies in Manma, individuals with power have installed direct pipelines from water tanks to their homes. However, the general public has been compelled to carry water from two kilometers away, as public taps have remained dry for the past month. Addressing the issue, Khadachakra Municipality Mayor Kamal Bahadur Shahi stated that the responsibility for managing the drinking water supply in Manma lies with Khadachakra Municipality-1 and the Drinking Water Committee. He assured that they would look into the situation and make immediate arrangements to provide water to the residents.
