One Injured by Police Gun Firing in Dhanusha

Santosh Yadav, 20, of Sahid Nagar Municipality-1, was injured after being shot by the police while controlling a clash between two groups over naming a place in Bathihan, Sabaila Municipality-9, on March 17. The particular place in Bathihan was named “Yadav Chowk.” However, people from other communities opposed the name and removed the display board leading to a dispute between the two groups, resulting in a clash.

SP Bhuvaneshwar Tiwari from the District Police Office said that the police fired 13 rounds of tear gas and five rounds in the air to control the clash. However, the situation remained tense, compelling the police to open fire. Yadav was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham after being shot in the left hip below the waist. However, as treatment could not be effective there, they are preparing to transfer him to Kathmandu for further treatment.
