Commission must be given full of rights to protect the rights of neglected community: Ansari

The NHRC spokesperson Mohana Ansari said that the Madhesi, Muslim, Tharu and Janajati commissions must be given full rights to protect the rights of neglected community.

She expressed her views while speaking at the discussion program in Ghorahi of Dang on December 30 on the draft presented in the parliament regarding the formation of commission related to Tharu, Madhesi, Muslim, Tharu and indeginous community. She added that without the autonomy of the commission, it cannot operate properly.

Ansari said that the officials in the commission must be given same facilities and should be aware on qualification and age. She added that related people from the same community should be appointed in the commission.

Ansari stressed that at least 33 percent women participation should be ensured in the commission provisioned by the constitution.

The participants said that commission must be accountable to the parliament and the commission’s recommendations must be discussed in the parliament in regular basis.
