The District Court sentenced 64-year-old Dalbahadur Shrestha of Dharmadevi Municipality-8 to 18-year imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl. The bench of Dhruvaraj Tripathi on February 23 convicted the accused along with a fine of Rs 7,00,000, Rs 2,00,000 as compensation as per Registrar Bharatmani Pokharel.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on September 1 alleging the accused of raping the victim on May 6. The police arrested the accused on September 8 and registered the case under the charge of rape at the District Court on September 9. The bench of District Court Judge Dhruvaraj Tripathi, on September 15, ordered the accused to be remanded for pre-trial detention. The victim underwent a medical examination at the District Hospital on September 10.
