Police arrested 19-year-old Mohammad Ramzan of Kathari Rural Municipality-2, 19-year-old Sonukumar Shah of the same place, and 19-year-old Mohammad Gulzar of Arariya Kushakatta, India on December 24 for the charge of raping a 23-year-old woman. The victim was found unconscious in Kathari Rural Municipality-2 on 24 December.
DSP Ved Prakash Joshi of the District Police Office reported that the initial investigation revealed the accused had tied the victim’s hands and taken her to a bamboo field while she was on her way to collect straw. Locals informed the police after finding the woman unconscious with torn clothes and bruises on some parts of her body.
The health examination and treatment of the victim is being done at the Koshi Hospital Biratnagar on 24 December.
