The District Court has sentenced 43-year-old Eklavya Rai, originally from Panchthar, Miklajung Rural Municipality,currently in Arjundhara Municipality-11, to three months imprisonment for the crime of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl. Registrar Kiran Singh informed that the bench of the District Court Judge Umesh Prasad Luintel on September 11 sentenced the accused with the mentioned imprisonment. The aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Anarmani on 24 March for the charge of sexually abusing the victim on March 22.
The police arrested Rai on March 24 and registered a case under the charge of sexual abuse in the district court on April 12. The bench of District Court Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet ordered a bail of Rs 50,000 on April 15. The accused was released the same day after posting bail. The health examination of the victim was done on 24 March at the Mechi Provincial Hospital.
