The District Court Dhading has sentenced 40-year-old Indian citizen Sanjay Kumar Prasad, a resident of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 Allekh, to 12 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl. Madhav Bhandari, the Registrar of the court, informed that the bench of Judge Manakumari GM BK also ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 5,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000 as compensation to the victim along with the imprisonment.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused on May 11 at the Area Police Office, Gajuri, alleging that Sanjay had raped the victim on April 14.
The health examination of the victim was done on May 11 at Dhading Hospital. The police said that Sanjay, who was absconding at the time, was arrested on 14 April. Additionally, he was remanded in custody on April 29.
