Police arrested 33-year-old Rajib Lama of Konjyosom Rural Municipality-2, Shankhu, and 25-year-old Sharmila Katuwal of Indrawati Rural Municipality-5 of Sindhalchok on September 6 for the charge of forcing two minors aged 14 and 15 and a woman of 21 years into sexual activity. Gautam Mishra, SP and Information Officer of the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau stated that the accused, operating the New Namaste Restaurant Bar in Satdobato, had lured girls and women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and forced them into sexual activities.
SP Nareshraj Subedi of the District Police Circle Lalitpur reported that the victimized women and girls were also being sent to engage in physical contact with customers. According to the police, they rescued the victims from the hotel after receiving information about the incident and took the accused into custody for investigation. Director of Patan Hospital, Professor Dr. Ravi Shakya, informed that the health examination of all three victims was conducted at Patan Hospital on September 6.
