The families of the victims of the bomb blast have raised concerns that they have not received compensation or relief for the past 22 months. The bomb blast in Ranawada, Tilagufa Municipality-10, which killed two girls on October 29, 2022, has left the families waiting for the government to provide relief for 22 months. In the explosion, a three-year-old girl died on the spot, while a five-year-old girl lost her life during treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet. Additionally, an eight-year-old boy, another three-year-old girl, and a five-year-old girl were injured. However, the victims’ families have not received any relief due to delays from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Kar Thapa, the grandfather of the three-year-old deceased, expressed his dissatisfaction that the families of the deceased have not received any compensation from the government, even 22 months after the incident. The Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Ganesh Nepali, stated that a meeting of the District Level Relief and Compensation Recommendation Committee was held immediately after the incident, and a recommendation was sent to the Ministry. However, despite writing four times, the compensation has not been received yet.
On this matter, INSEC Online reported that the victim families had not received compensation on July 26, 2023. However, the situation remains unchanged. Under the leadership of INSEC, the Human Rights Defender District Network, Kalikot, and a team of journalists conducted an on-site monitoring of the incident involving the injured on November 11-12, 2022. They urged the Local Administrations and all levels of government.to take immediate and appropriate actions to compensate the families of the deceased and to provide proper treatment, relief, higher education, and employment opportunities for the injured children.
