Four people, including three members of the same Dalit family, died due to diarrhea in Narainapur Rural Municipality-3, Gegli. The deceased are 60-year-old Shanti Pasi, her daughter-in-law Rupa Pasi, 25, her one-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter Nandini Pasi, and 12-year-old Yusuf Ali from the same area.
Ajay Kumar Mishra, Ward Chairperson of Narainapur Rural Municipality-3, stated that the Dalit community is facing a problem of diarrhea due to climate change and contaminated drinking water. To control the outbreak, which has been spreading for a week, a team of 15 health workers from the rural municipality has brought medicine and saline water from the district. Nagendra Kumar Shah, the Chief of Public Health of Narainapur Rural Municipality, informed that the deaths were caused by contaminated water and changes in the weather. Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal and Armed Police Force SP Bimal Dangi also visited the area and expressed their commitment to help control the situation.
Laxmikanta Mishra, the Information Officer of Narainapur Rural Municipality and Chief of the Disaster Management Department, stated that health workers are actively conducting door-to-door programs to address the situation.
