The District Court has sentenced 64-year-old Narayan Bahadur Raya of Sunabarshi Municipality-4, to three years and six months imprisonment for attempting to rape a 34-year-old woman. Hem Bahadur Budhathoki, information officer of the District Court informed that the bench of the District Court Judge Uddhab Prasad Bhattarai on August 22, 2024 gave the following verdict.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Rangeli, on July 25, 2023, alleging that the accused attempted to rape the victim on July 24, 2023. Based on the same complaint, police arrested the accused on July 25 and registered a case under the charge of attempted rape in the District Court on September 17, 2023.
The bench of the then-District Court Judge Mohan Subedi set bail at Rs 1,00,000 for the accused on September 18, 2023. Subsequently, he was released on bail the same day. The medical examination of the victim was conducted at Koshi Hospital on July 25, 2023.
