Banidanda Primary School in Paiyu Rural Municipality-5 sustained damage due to the heavy rain that occurred on the night of August 8. Flooding from the nearby Tiuri River has affected the school, causing damage to its rooms and overall structure.
Narayan Bhurtel, Ward Chairperson of Paiyu Rural Municipality-5, stated that the school needs to be relocated due to the flood damage. In the meantime, children are being educated in vacant houses in the neighborhood. He emphasized that if infrastructure to control the river is not constructed promptly, the school will need to be relocated. Similarly, Rural Municipality Chairperson Toran Malla Thakur informed that efforts are underway at the local level to temporarily resume school operations, and proposals for repairs have been submitted to the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki.

The school has 39 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Class 5. Chairperson Bhurtel mentioned that managing and operating the school has become challenging due to the damage.
